This site was created to assemble all the known information about Saint Patrick into one place. Many sites say the same things, often the wrong things which use myth and opinion as their basis with no citation of any kind.  There are links to credible sources within the posts contained on this site.

As for me, I started this site as a quest to find out more about my Irish heritage and for answers to “Why St. Patrick’s Day was such a big deal?” in my family and for those elsewhere in the world.  I mean there are other saints and feast days. What makes him stand out from other Saints in Ireland and in the rest of the world? The others’ feast days do not get the same world wide recognition and hype be it commercial, ethnic, or religious. Why is he the “Patron Saint” of Ireland when there were others? Please keep in mind that I am trying to write this as unbiased and unprejudiced as possible by taking a more journalistic approach rather than a religious one. Even if I do enjoy the celebration every year.  I am not debunking religion or St. Patrick himself, I just wondered that’s all.  I am interested in the cause and effect that impacts the world. Be it good, bad, or both in order to really get to know who was St. Patrick ?

I realize that St. Patrick as a religious figure is only part of the equation, that there were other sides to the man.  What other deeds and consequences followed his actions in Ireland?   What impact did they have exactly?  Was St. Patrick solely responsible for the feats?  Did he deserve all the praise and blame?  What was the good that came of his missionary work?  What was the bad? As well as many more questions which I do address in this site. Again, I just wondered.

As for the “Radiation Shamrock” logo that you see, I created it in 2008 with two meanings in mind. One being that it symbolizes St. Patrick’s spread of Christianity. Regardless if the shamrock metaphor myth is true or not. The other meaning being that it represents Ireland and the Irish cultural influence radiating into the world. If you like it and the concept behind it, you can find it on T-shirts in the shop. That sums up the “About” page, thank you for taking the time to read it.~Tom G.
